Joey Oputa is a Teen photographer raised in Nigeria. He’s been shooting for
four years, he realized he’d rather be behind the camera than in front of it in any case. Of his approach to photography he writes, ‘I see beauty in everything. I find photography more than just a hobby but a lifestyle.

His mind is always on shoot mode looking for something interesting to capture. Possibilities are endless as he finds photography to be a form of art but instead of painting with colors his painting pictures with light. That’s the true beauty of photography’. Joey Oputa

Tell us abit about you?
I'm a photographer, I also shoot videos on the side. I'm a straight forward & easy going person, quite fun to be with as well. I work a bit too hard, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I absolutely derive joy in learning new things & meeting new people.

What type of camera do you use?
I use a Canon 5D Mark III & Canon 6D

How do you train yourself to take better pictures?
I hang around a lot with people that are better than me, tag along with them when they're going for shoots so that I can learn from them.

Describe a typical workday for you?
I shoot outdoor most times, so on a work day, I head to the studio at first to get everything I need, then I'm off to the location. When shooting, I'm mostly with at least one friend that is a good photographer,  two heads are actually better than one.

How do you describe your style of work?
It's amazing but challenging as well. Like j said earlier, I shoot outdoor mostly. So, I'm out all day. It can be really stressful, but I love what I do regardless.

Which has been your most challenging shoot ever?
Well there was this particular shoot that took a lot of planning and of course funds as well.  Then on the day of the shoot, my make up artist didn't show. I had to call a friend to help me out at the last minute. Then when the models were ready, it started raining. I was frustrated. But luckily, the rain was brief, so when it stopped, we started shooting.

What attracted you to want to be a photographer?
It's really something I saw myself doing when I was a lot younger. I loved taking photos and today, I do that professionally.

Amongst your works, which is your favorite and why?
My favorite cause the model was cooperative and the weather was great

Be kind to those who don't like you. Kill them with kindness if you must.
